Amy Sigal | Principal
The ability to see the big picture is a skill Amy has honed well. Her analytical nature allows her to meticulously synthesize information and transform it into strategic solutions that help businesses succeed. Yet, she can still pop a headline or a new product name on a piece of creative that’s heads and tails above the rest.
She credits the liberal arts education she received at Saint Mary’s College for her foundation in big picture thinking. Her double major in English Literature and Humanistic Studies exposed her to writing, art, history and philosophy from all corners of the globe, giving her an in-depth understanding of culture and different ways to attack problems. Very heady stuff for someone who originally thought she wanted to be an accountant.
Amy feels she also benefitted from attending a women’s college, which encouraged her to spend a semester abroad in Rome, Italy and to pursue an international marketing position. During her tenure at Accenture, she traveled extensively and observed how business operates on a global scale. “It was an amazing experience that broadened my horizons and gave me a unique perspective,” she says.
She also enjoys the satisfaction of working with start-up companies to help define services and the way these companies talk about what they do. But her biggest passion is working to further the mission of a nonprofit that develops housing for low-income residents. “We can solve so many problems if people have a stable, affordable place to live,” she explains. “I’ve seen what a drastic difference this has made in people’s lives and the ripple effect it can have.”
In her own life, Amy also values stability and the joys of being a parent. She’s incredibly proud of her two dynamic, beautiful children and happy to be in the whirl of their activities. If she’s able to steal time for herself, she turns to a waiting canvas or the golf course. Her preference for golf and abstract painting underscores her “center brained” nature – equal parts analytical and creative. In both hobbies, she’s attracted to the outdoors, where she takes time to enjoy the trees.
